Specialty Description
A gynecologic oncologist is a subspecialist in obstetrics and gynecology who has advanced knowledge of the comprehensive management of patients with gynecologic malignancies. This includes familiarity with those diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary for the total care of a woman at risk for or diagnosed with gynecologic cancer or precursors, and complications resulting therefrom. This individual should be able to function effectively in the arena of basic, translational, and clinical research in gynecologic oncology.
